The FDA has approved two new medications, Incivek and Victrelis, for treatment of hepatitis C. These drugs mark a new direction in treatment and significant improvement over the current standard of care.

Sanjay Kakar is the Vice Chair of Clinical Pathology in the Department of Anathomic Pathology at UCSF and the Chief of Service in the Department of Anatomic Pathology at SFVA Medical Center. He received his medical degree from Christian Medical College in India and completed his residency at the University of Illinois. At the Mayo Clinic, he completed fellowships in GI/liver Pathology and Molecular Pathology. His research interests include GI/liver/pancreatic pathology, methylation and MSI in colorectal polyps and cancer, and genetic changes in hepatic adenoma, HCC, fibrolamellar HCC.
